MusiKagitingan 2015: Alay sa Bayaning Beterano

Araw ng Kagitingan - Philippine Veterans Week 
23 March 2015, Quezon City – The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) Technical Working Committee in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) presents the "Musikagitingan 2015: Alay sa Bayaning Beterano", a musical cum cultural variety show in honor of our Filipino veterans with the theme “Ipunla ang Kagitingan sa Kabataan, Ihanda ang Beterano ng Kinabukasan” held at the Tanghalang Aguinaldo, AFP Theater, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo.

Executive Order No. 23, series of 1987, declares April 9 of every year as a national holiday for the observance of Araw ng Kagitingan. Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 466, series of 1989, designates the period of April 5 to 11 of every year as Philippine Veterans Week in order to promote, preserve, and memorialize the principles, ideas, and deeds of our war veterans as a means to enhance patriotism and love of country, especially among the youth of the land.

A (Not so Random) Act of Kindness



It started with an intriguing message by MSg Dexter Tiu: "All members of SARU are required to attend this Saturday. There will be an important event." Curious, the troops of course asked what was happening, but Master Tiu kept mum about it and we were left to our speculations. This was all a week ago.

HHSSG 1 TAS BDE NCR Brightens Tanauan’s Parade of Light


Touchdown. HHSSG 1 TAS BDE NCR arrives at Tanauan Batangas.
March 7, Tanauan Batangas – Cool breeze and vibrant colors greeted the officers and troops of the HHSSG 1 TAS BDE NCR upon their arrival at the City of Colors last Saturday. Led by Commanding Officer COL. ERIC C GARCHITORENA MC(GSC) and with the permission of, BGEN JOHNNY L MACANAS, Commander, AFPRESCOM the troop offered its services during city’s much-awaited Parade of Lights. Coinciding with this event are Tanauan’s 443rd Foundation Day and the 14th year of cityhood.

Unity Walk: EDSA 29 People Power Revolution Anniversary

In 1986, the EDSA People Power happened; millions of people gathered to put an end to the 21-year Marcos' regime and dictatorship.

This event placed a huge mark in our history and showcased to the world the remarkable strength of the Filipino people  - when we gathered to begin with the new era of our democracy. Over the years, we are celebrating this occasion to honor the sacrifices of all people behind the true freedom and democracy.

HHSSG SARU conducts Basic Life Support Refresher Course

As we are all aware, Metro Manila is one of the busiest cities in the country. Furthermore, accidents happen when we least expect it - we may encounter one on our way to work, while walking, while taking the public transport, or even on our way home.

The Search and Rescue Unit of the Headquarters and Headquarters Service Support Group (HHSSG), 1st Technical and Administrative Service Brigade, NCR conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) refresher course last 14 February 2015 upon the approval of our Commanding Officer COL ERIC C GARCHITORENA MC (GSC) and CPT Garry S Sibal CHS, Chief of Staff.

The BLS refresher course was aimed at further enhancing the skills of SARU members, as well as equipping officers and other enlisted personnels of the unit to properly respond to emergency situations.

Fogging Against Dengue



Dengue is a disease caused by a Dengue Virus carried by a female mosquito called “Aedes Egypti”. This medical condition may lead to death if not treated.  Until now, there is no cure for dengue fever; it is only managed by addressing the presenting sign and symptoms.

Col Jose H Narciso Keynotes Closing Ceremony of Rope Rescue Technician Course Class 01-2014

HAFPRESCOM, 29 November 2014 A total of twenty (20) members of the Headquarters & Headquarters Service Support Group, 1st Technical and Administrative Service Brigade NCR (R) graduated from the Rope Rescue Technician Levels I and II Course conducted by the Search and Rescue Unit Foundation (SARUF). The course was conducted from 13 September to 29 November 2014.
